Important Limited Warranty Terms
β οΈ Limited Warranty Start Date: All limited warranties and returns start on the day of purchase, not the day of delivery. For example, if you order a new iPod on January 1st, 2024, the limited warranty window closes on January 1st, 2025.
Refund vs. Exchange Policy: All items returned under limited warranty and deemed defective will be exchanged by default. for domestic orders if you are still within 30 days of placing your order and specifically request a refund, we can process one. This 30-day window can be extended under very limited circumstances.
What's Covered Under Limited Warranty
Our limited warranty covers the work and parts installed by Elite Obsolete Electronics staff. The limited warranty DOES COVER:
- Defective parts or loss of functionality without liquid/physical damage
- Issues arising from our installation work (e.g., lines appearing on display after we open your iPod to install microSD cards)
- Manufacturing defects in parts we've installed
Examples of Covered Issues:
- Opening your iPod to install extra microSD cards and lines show up on the display afterward - COVERED
What's NOT Covered Under Limited Warranty
The limited warranty DOES NOT COVER:
- Accidental drops or physical damage
- Liquid damage detrimental to function
- Loss of functionality due to user error or mishandling
- Damage caused by improper disassembly/reassembly
- Damage you cause during your own modifications
Examples of Non-Covered Issues:
- Opening the iPod to replace the click wheel and snapping off the display connector while removing the display - NOT COVERED
- Dropping your iPod and breaking the screen - NOT COVERED
Important: Simply disassembling/reassembling your iPod does not void the limited warranty. However, improperly disassembling/reassembling the iPod will void the limited warranty.
While we will try our best to be gracious and understanding if you break the device yourself due to dropping it or attempting mods, we always reserve the right to decline limited warranty coverage.
RockBox Policy
Simply installing RockBox does not void the limited warranty. However, installation is done at your own risk. If you brick the board during the RockBox installation process, that is not covered under limited warranty.
β οΈ Important: For any iPod sent back for limited warranty service, RockBox must be uninstalled before returning the iPod. If RockBox is installed and this has not been discussed with help@eliteobsolete.com, we will ship the iPod back as-is and refuse repair for that device in the future.
iCloud Lock Policy
If an iPod touch or iPhone is returned under the limited warranty with the iCloud lock still active, it will be returned to the customer as is and no refund will be issued.
Compatibility Notice
As Apple no longer supports these obsolete devices, we cannot guarantee that iPods will work with M-series Macs. We will do our best to help you troubleshoot compatibility issues, but this is not covered under limited warranty. We use era-correct hardware for testing and support.
Limited Warranty Inspection Process
All iPods and parts sent back for limited warranty claims will be meticulously inspected, tested, and opened for signs of:
- Third-party tampering or maintenance
- Physical or liquid damage
- User modifications
Parts installed and sent by our technicians have been marked and logged to maintain limited warranty integrity. All iPod and logic board serial numbers have also been logged for the same reason.
